Use Kimsa as a soft and fluffy trailing thread
Kimsa works really well as a trailing thread together with other qualities. It is ideally suited as an alternative to the classic Silk Mohair thread. It is a soft and woolly quality, which primarily consists of baby alpaca, which is known for being extremely soft, and our quality is, at 21.5 micron, the finest available for hand knitting. If you or the recipient of your knit is woolly, or just want a buttery soft knit, Kimsa is a good choice for a follower thread. It has a more waxy and fluffy expression and is extremely soft. Sometimes it can also be fun to try a different expression, which our Kimsa will give.
Softness from the best of three worlds
Kimsa is a pleasure to work with and wear. It is a super soft, woolly and fluffy quality. It consists of 54% baby alpaca, 22% super kid mohair and 24% mulberry silk. Three soft and luxurious qualities that together provide an absolutely perfect trailing thread. Baby Alpaca is known for its softness. As the name might suggest, the quality has nothing to do with the age of the alpaca. By contrast, Baby Alpaca is a term for the hair coming from the softest and finest part of the alpaca, namely the belly. With 21.5 microns, it is the finest available for hand knitting. Super Kid Mohair is also the softest and most luxurious type of mohair available. "Super Kid" is a term for your finest quality of mohair, which is available and comes from goat kids. Last but not least, we have the mulberry silk. We all know silk, as something that simply exudes luxury and softness - hence the expression "soft as silk". Mulberry silk is the most expensive and exclusive silk available, and you can undoubtedly feel it.
