Do you need to measure your knitting strength and needle sizes? Then this framework is a smart tool. It is a knitting strength frame and needle gauge combined in one. The frame measures 10x10cm and can measure stick sizes up to 15 mm.
How to measure your knitting strength:
In every recipe, a knitting strength is specified. That is, a certain number of stitches that you must hit per 10x10 cm in your knitted work. It is crucial for the fit of your finished work that the knitting tension is suitable. If you e.g. must achieve a knitting strength of 21 stitches x 28 rows in stockinette stitch on needle 4 mm per 10cm, you must make a knitting test where you cast on 21 stitches on the recommended needle size. Feel free to cast on extra stitches to create a retrill edge on the sample. We recommend 3-4 stitches for each side. Then you knit 28 rows + edge stitches, after which you wash and block the sample flat. When the swatch is dry, you can use your frame and see if the stockinette area on the swatch matches the frame. If the area is larger than the frame, you must go down in pin size. If the reverse area is too small, you must go up a pin size. Try half a size at a time.
