The Aya Scarf is knitted in a single weaving pattern – either as a triangular scarf that is knitted back and forth from the tip towards the neck or as an elongated scarf that is knitted back and forth from tip to tip. The edges consist of a narrow i-cord and are knitted at the same time as the scarf, while the i-cord on the top edge/closing tip is made at the end.
Sizes: Triangular scarf: 1 thread (2 threads). Elongated scarf: 1 thread (2 threads)
Measure: Triangular scarf: Height from tip to top edge: 31 cm. Width along the top edge: approx. 63.5 cm. Elongated scarf: Length from tip to tip: 80 cm. Width: 12.5 cm.
Size guide: Aya Scarf is knitted in either 1 or 2 strands of silk mohair - the knitting strength is the same - but can also be knitted in other thin yarn qualities. However, be aware that the scarf's measurements may differ from the measurements in the recipe. In the recipe there are instructions for both a triangular and an elongated scarf - both scarves can be worn around the neck or in the hair. The scarves can be knitted larger/longer than indicated, e.g. as a shawl or to wrap several times around the neck. However, be aware that yarn consumption will increase.
Knit strength: 18 stitches x 35 rows in stocking stitch pattern on needles 4.5 mm = 10 x 10 cm.
Guiding sticks: Circular needle 4.5 mm (60 or 80 cm). Alternatively, jumper pins can be used. Possibly a double pointed needle of the same size for i-cord closure.
Yarn suggestions from Smuksak: 1 thread Silk Mohair from Lana Gatto (25 g / 212 meters)
Yarn consumption:
Triangular scarf: approx. 15 (30) g Silk Mohair
Elongated scarf: approx. 10-15 (20-25) g Silk Mohair
Degree of difficulty: Light to Middelsvær.
